This post is Day 29 in a series of studies about “Angels”. I strongly suggest you begin with the introduction to this study, please click here to read it.

Angels – Day 29
Many of us need to be reminded regularly that God will protect us. He uses His angels to do that. We are surrounded by an unseen world of creatures great and small, good and bad. And sadly many of us do not have spiritual eyes open enough to see it.
Psalm 91:11-12
He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
The Thought
These are such encouraging verses from a psalm which is encouraging from beginning to end. Those who have followed this site for a while will remember that we studied the whole psalm throughout the month of November 2020.
Many of us need to be reminded regularly that God will protect us. He uses His angels to do that. We are surrounded by an unseen world of creatures great and small, good and bad. And sadly many of us don’t have spiritual eyes open enough to see it.
But we can’t take these verses as a done deal, there is a condition in verse 9: IF you make the Most High your dwelling… then these things will be yours. We must never take God’s love and protection as an insurance policy that is paid and ready for whenever we need something. Yes, Jesus paid the price, but what He gained in dying on the cross for our sins was our own personal access to the Father.
He gave His blood as a sacrifice, to abolish the need of bulls, sheep and goats which had been needed by the Old Testament laws. His was a “once and for all” sacrifice.
If we don’t recognise the real meaning of that first Easter, and see what Jesus achieved for us, and treat God as Father, if we don’t have an intimate family relationship with Him, then He won’t be supplying us the things we ask for. No matter how much we pray.
He loves to give good gifts to His children. But if we don’t act like His loving children, then we can’t expect the benefits.
Action
Thank God today that He is your Father and ask Him to reveal more of His Fatherly love to you. Many, though, did not have a good earthly father. If that is the case, then it might be time to ask for prayer from someone you can trust.
Pray for those you know who did not have good fathers.
Pray for the fathers you know to be good parents.
