When King Herod and all Jerusalem heard about this, they became disturbed. Throughout history, we can see that many a king has not been happy at the thought of another born to take his place. Especially one who was not his own flesh and blood!
Genesis 16:7 The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert. There are over 100 verses concerning angels in the Bible, maybe we should take more notice of them. The first mention is this one quoted above and is also concerning a pregnancy! I find that interesting!
In our previous thought we suggested that our misdeeds can result in our own ill health, now we see that they can result in someone else's poor health. In Thought 1 we talked about the "one flesh" of marriage. Here we see the effects of being joined with a "bad lot". It is encouraging that the Bible tells the same story all the way through. God never changes, and 'one flesh' means 'one flesh'.
