Truth – Day 20

John 16:12-13

I have much more to say to you, more that you can now bear. But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.

The Thought

Only 3 times in my Bible can I find the expression The Spirit of Truth (John 14:17, John 15:26 and the verse for today). It seems such a good name for Holy Spirit. There are so many lies being told in the media, in business, in politics, everywhere. And we all need someone to help us know the truth about what is really happening. Who better than Holy Spirit who is the voice of Jesus on the earth today. He will glorify Me because it is from Me that He will receive what He will make known to you (John 16:14).

Today, Jesus is still teaching us via Holy Spirit. The question is “are we listening?”

Which voices do we listen to, and can we trust them?

In our regular prayers we can talk to Holy Spirit and train ourselves to hear His voice, One of His reasons for being on the earth is to give guidance to God’s people.

Action

Ask yourself today how much of what you hear via the news media is really true. Is it the “whole truth, and nothing but the truth” as the courts make people swear to speak, or is it leaning towards one political party or another?

Many of us have suffered sickness and/or lost loved ones during the last few years because of the pandemic. Times have been hard. There are conflicting stories about everything surrounding that. We need the Spirit of Truth to lead us daily to hear what He is saying, and to know how to react. Read John 16 and let those verses inspire your prayers today.
