Truth – Day 19

Ephesians 6:14-15

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

The Thought

Many sermons have been preached, and many books written on these verses about the armour that God gives to His servants. One of the most important things to remember is the beginning part. Stand firm then. That is an order for us. We must make the decision to be faithful, and to clothe ourselves in this armour for our own protection, but also for the defence of the gospel.

We have the responsibility to speak the truth in our fallen world. Not the truth as we might perceive it, but the truth as God sees it. The truth based on Jesus who is The Only One who died for our forgiveness. The truth too that there is a devil who does not want others to know that truth about Jesus, and will do all he can to prevent people getting to know Him.

The armour of God is for our protection from anything and everything that the enemy might throw at us. It is interesting that truth is described as a belt, and that belt must be fastened in the right place. We don’t keep it is a bag on our shoulder in case we need it later in the day. We wear it right in the middle of our bodies so that it keeps everything else in place.

Action

Read Ephesians 6 today and learn the verses about the amour. (Ephesians 6:13-17).

As you get dressed physically over the next few days, remind yourself to put on this armour and be dressed spiritually too.

Try to be conscious of the protection and the weapons you carry with you throughout the day. Don’t be afraid to use them.
