Jude – Day 27

Jude 22

Be merciful to those who doubt.

The Thought

This is just one of a short list of instructions that Jude left for people who found themselves leading church groups. It seems a strange statement to me, why would anyone not be merciful to a doubter? As long as the doubts are genuine, and not a refusal to believe, there is reason to be merciful.

Believing in Jesus is a yes/no situation. Either we believe He is God, or we don’t. But many who have no doubts in that situation have many doubts about some of the things He called us to do.

When Jesus told Peter he could get out of the boat and walk on water, Peter obeyed, but a few minutes later he began to sink! Jesus’ rebuke seems hard. You of little faith, why did you doubt? (Matthew 14:31).

After Jesus had cursed the fig tree He used it as an example to tell His disciples never to doubt their own abilities if they have faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, “Go throw yourself into the sea” and it will be done (Matthew 21:21).

Once we have experienced a touch of God and have become followers of Jesus, most of us don’t ever doubt who He is; “The Son of The Living God”. But many of us have doubts about what we can actually do in His name.

The way to overcome our doubts is to read the Word of God and believe.

Action

Read Mark 11:12-25 today and be encouraged to do what Jesus told us all to do. Speak to the problems and tell them to be gone in the powerful name of Jesus. He put no qualifications on that about being leaders, or having been to Bible school.

Ask God to encourage you today to do what He is asking you to do.
