Jude – Day 25

Jude 20-21

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

The Thought

Having warned us of the dangers of non-Biblical teaching and leaders who are not genuine, Jude goes on to give us good advice about the “do it yourself” way!

We each can have that close personal relationship with Jesus that each of the disciples had. Sometimes when we read of Jesus’s conversations with His disciples, we can feel from their questions, the challenges they are sensing. Jesus brought to them a totally different way of thinking. He does the same for us today.

Jude says build yourselves up in your faith. We do that by studying our Bibles, and honouring Jesus’ order to be the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).

Jesus said I am the Light of the world” (John 8:12 & John 9:5), but in that second reference, He preceded it with While I am in the world! He was preparing His disciples for their new careers, He does the same for us! He was saying to all of us, While I am in the world I am the light of the world, but I’m leaving soon, so it’s up to you to carry on the good work.

Sadly many believers have not dared or understood how to take up that baton.

Action

Pray today for the impact of Christ in your life to be evident to people you meet.

Praise God today for those missionary groups that you know of that have been, and are continuing to be very successful in their work to share the Love of Jesus with others.

Take Jude’s advice to build yourself up in your faith literally today and spend a bit more time than usual in His Word.
