Grace – Day 8
Jesus paid the price so that we could have the same relationship with Father God that He had. The veil that had kept the Jewish nation from getting near to God in both a physical and spiritual sense was torn from top to bottom at the moment of His death.
Ephesians 2:7-8
In order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His Grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by Grace you have been saved through faith – and this is not from yourselves. It is a gift from God.
The Thought
Paul often mentions Grace in his letters but what exactly does he mean when he talks of the riches of God’s grace?
One of the biggest things is the forgiveness we receive through the cross of Jesus. That is what saves us and allows us the relationship with Father God from whom all blessings flow. One of the first verses in this letter of Paul to the Ephesians tells us this… “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with EVERY spiritual blessing in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3) (emphasis mine)
The spiritual blessings include: love, peace, faith, family, help in time of need, strength, forgiveness, angelic protection, advice, inspiration… the list goes on and on. All those things come under the category of Grace gained for us by Jesus at the cross.
I have often heard Grace described as God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense!
Jesus paid the price so that we could have the same relationship with Father God that He had. The veil that had kept the Jewish nation from getting near to God in both a physical and spiritual sense was torn from top to bottom at the moment of His death (Matthew 27:51).
Action
Pray today that you will recognise God’s Grace at work in your life as you face whatever challenges the day holds.
Read the whole chapter of Ephesians 2 and listen to Paul’s message as though he was speaking to you.
Pray for those you know who know nothing of God’s Grace.
