Creation – Day 20

As we reflect for several days on the whole of God’s week of creation, especially the 6th day when He made man, we are looking at several Bible verses, which encourage us to believe that it happened as it is written. For you created my inmost being.

Psalm 139:13

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

The Thought

As we reflect for several days on the whole of God’s week of creation, especially the 6th day when He made man, we are looking at several Bible verses which encourage us to believe that it happened as it is written.

In the verse for today it is King David who is speaking, and expressing his thanks to God for his life. There are many Jewish scholars who believe David was an illegitimate son of his father Jesse. Partly because of the verse which tells us that Jesse didn’t present him to Samuel as one of his sons (1 Samuel 16:11). These scholars use alternative translations of the words in the original Jewish text, plus the fact that David was not at all appreciated by his older brothers (1 Samuel 17:28).

Whatever the story, David was God’s choice and David knew it. In today’s psalm. He continues with “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made… My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place… Your eyes saw my unformed body…” (Psalm 139:14-16).

Many of us are not sure that God saw us in the womb and ordained the days of our life on earth, in the way David was. Many of us would make a greater effort to do things differently if we remembered that God sees EVERYTHING!!

Action

Read the whole of psalm 139 today and rejoice with David in God’s closeness and His plans for your life.

Thank Him that even the day of your death has been planned! (verse 16)

Tell yourself that there is no point at all in worrying about anything, because God is taking care of you. He always will. His angels are protecting you. (see September’s study)
