The image of millions of obedient believers sitting at the side of Jesus on His Heavenly throne is a difficult one to imagine. We must not think of the throne as being like an earthly throne for an earthly king. But more an inner chamber where major decisions are made.

The suggestion in the verses above is that eating together helps us get to know each other. In many cultures of the world people invite new colleagues or neighbours for a snack or a meal, as a gesture of friendship. The church on earth should be a reflection of Heaven.

When Jesus was in the temple courts one day, some of the Jewish elders brought a woman caught in adultery, they brought her to Jesus expecting to be able to trick Him. But as always, He won the day and in the end nobody accused her of anything (John 8).

The last of the seven churches is far from perfect in the eyes of God. That is a sad reflection on our churches today. Many see these letters as being to a different time period in church history, starting with the early church and finishing with our modern day churches

The fact is that Jesus might be coming soon to take any one of us home to Heaven. Most of us have no real idea of when we will die and leave our earthly bodies. We should live heeding His advice in the rest of these verses we read today.

The encouragement here is that God sees everything, and knows our problems. He has every intention of dealing with the enemy in His time and in His way. We must not try to do His work for Him. But we must trust Him for protection and every solution we need.

This letter to the church in Philadelphia, opens with a description of Jesus as pure, and the One who is holding the most important key. The one which allows Him to open the door of Heaven to those who are worthy to enter. But what is the key of David?

There is a great promise in these verses for those who live saintly lives! None of us is without sin. But sadly there are people who attend meetings regularly in many Christian communities who do not understand the necessity to at least make an effort to live for Jesus 24/7.

In His message to the fourth church in this series, Jesus begins by assuring the readers of His authority. He is One with the God who is complete, holding the universe in His hand and knowing everything that happens on the earth, including the reputation and truth about His church.

This sounds like good news for those who have not been taken in by Jezebel. God is telling us today that she was operating as a witch. That sort of person needs to be kept out of our churches. Because there are always vulnerable people who succumb to their temptations.
