7 Seals – Day 18
Revelation 6:10
They cried out in a loud voice, “Holy and true Master, how long before you judge and take revenge on those living on earth who shed our blood?”
The Thought
“How long before you judge and take revenge on those on earth who shed our blood?” Paul reminds us that we should not take revenge, but leave that to God. Do you find that hard to do? He calls us to be “in the world but not of the world”!
My limited earthly view does not see Heaven as a place where anyone is asking for vengeance. Does yours? In Romans 12:19 Paul reminds us that we should not take revenge, but leave that to God because He has promised to take care of those things.
Do you find that hard to do? Paul is citing a verse in Deuteronomy 32:35 where Moses towards the end of his life is recapping all that God has done in bringing the Israelites out of Egypt and to the borders of the Promised Land. Moses is reminding the people that God had drowned Pharaoh and all the Egyptians who had kept them in slavery and then, having let them leave (Exodus 12) were chasing them to capture them back!! (Exodus 14)
God always has a plan and the world would be a much better place if we all asked Him for His plans and then did what He told us to daily. But He also knows the frailty of us humans, living in the world as it is today, and He calls us to be “in the world but not of the world”!
Action
Do you trust God’s plans for you daily? (Jeremiah 29:11) Pray for His plans for you for the next few days. Spend time listening to what He says in response.
Do you have trouble leaving vengeance to God? Are you one who wants to pay back those who hurt you? Ask Jesus for help in that area remembering that in the prayer He gave us (Matthew 6:9-13) we are told that our forgiveness is in relation to how much we forgive!
Pray for Jesus’ help in forgiving all who have hurt you, and then move on with God today.
