The Weather – Day 7

Joshua 10:13

So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.

The Thought

We continue yesterday’s exciting story with another miracle, showing us that God truly is in charge of His creation. If He wants to change things, He can! He also will do miracles for His chosen people. That’s you and me! Hallelujah!

Yesterday we read that many of the enemy army were killed by giant hailstones. Today we see that the rest were killed by the fighting or by sunstroke! No the Bible doesn’t say that, but the sun can do a lot of damage if we are over exposed to it, and a full 24 hours of sun would count as over-exposure. But note that only the enemy fighters were affected!

As you read the full account, you will discover that stopping the sun from setting was not God’s prompting, but Joshua’s. The previous verse tells us Joshua said to The Lord in the presence of Israel; “Oh sun stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the valley of Aijalon.”

We don’t hear anything in this account of the army being tired. It sounds as though the soldiers of Israel had not slept for at least 2 days, they just kept advancing against the five armies that had come against them.

Action

Is there anything coming against you at the moment, bad health, financial problems, family problems? Give those things to The Lord in prayer today and be confident that He can do anything and everything necessary to answer your prayers.

Read Joshua 10 again and let the miracles there increase your confidence about what God can do for you and yours.
