Revelation 1-3 – Day 15

Revelation 2:17

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.

The Thought

This is one of the most interesting verses in the letters to the churches. What is the hidden manna? And why is it the prize for the victorious ones? What is the victory we must aim for? And of what purpose is a white stone with a new name? A secret name!

The first phrase tells us that this letter is written to all of us. We all have ears, but do we all hear? That in itself is a challenge, many of us don’t listen to what our family members are saying, much less what Holy Spirit might be saying. Sadly there are Christian churches preaching that Holy Spirit left the earth with the apostles, and consequently the gifts of the Spirit are not relevant today! The Bible does not encourage that line of thought.

1 Corinthians 12 and 14 are two chapters which give us information about spiritual gifts and the use of them.

Action

Read those two chapters today and be encouraged to use the gifts mentioned there: Wisdom, knowledge, faith, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, and interpretation of tongues.

Pray for your church to move more in the use of those gifts. Pray for yourself to have discernment as you operate in those gifts, knowing when and where to use them.

Ask yourself today how much you hear what Holy Spirit is saying to you, for your personal life, but also for your church group. Do you hear Him speak, or trust that somebody more mature than you will hear?
