Jude – Day 23

1 Peter 5:8

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

The Thought

Yesterday we talked a little about the effect satan is having on today’s society. Peter says the same thing in a different way. Jude and Peter were both very close to Jesus, and their messages are similar. Today’s verse from Peter, gives us good advice on how to keep the enemy out of our lives.

The recommendation to be alert is obvious and is telling us to not get lazy “on the job”. We must not get too comfortable in our Christian lives, thinking that going to church regularly satisfies Father God. It doesn’t! Neither does being baptised, as babies or as adults. Jesus is looking for an on-going close personal relationship with each one of us.

We must keep the communication lines open to Him 24/7, so that we can hear Holy Spirit’s whisper helping us to recognise the demons who are constantly trying to trip us up.

The work of the enemy in the world at the moment is very obvious if we have eyes to see it, but much of the regular news media do not recognise what is going on, because they are blinded by the enemy who holds the finance behind that industry.

Remember that Jesus told Peter, (and tells all believers) Whatever you bind on earth; will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven (Matthew 16:19). Later He said the same thing to all the disciples (Matthew 18:18).

Action

Read those two chapters of Matthew today and be encouraged that you are on the winning side.

Pray today for protection from enemy activity in your family and your neighbourhood. Pray for spiritual eyes to opened, especially in the church, that we will all hear God’s voice and have His wisdom in our rapidly changing world.
