James – Day 6

James 1:13-15

When tempted, no-one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full grown gives birth to death.

The Thought

This is a word for those who blame God for their problems, but in fact so many of the things we face are because of our own self centredness, because we want our own way in most circumstances.

When a baby is born he cries and is fed. That continues for several moths. Eventually it grows and becomes more independent. But it still cries when he wants something. If the parents constantly give in to the child he will become a selfish brute! He must learn the “rules of life”; that what he wants is not always good for him, and that other people have ideas and desires that may not tie in with the toddler view of life. He must also learn obedience.

We, like the growing child must learn to trust the Lord more to plan our lives for us, not that we should be robots, but we need a day to day submission to His will, so that we don’t get into a battle with Him behaving like undisciplined children.

How much can you trust Him with your life? Do you want Him to use you today? Do you want to see His will being done on earth as in Heaven? He has chosen to work through us mere mortals, so let’s stop fighting Him and make ourselves available today.

Action

Praise Him that He wants only the best for you. Praise Him that in Heaven His will is always accomplished.

Tell Him today that you will submit to Him.

Pray for His will to be done in your life, in your family and on the earth today.
