Hope – Day 14

Proverbs 10:28

The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

The Thought

As we look at our world today this verse seems quite an appropriate one to be praying, and claiming from the Lord. Our world seems to be run by very rich leaders whose lives have very little to do with the everyday working lives of “ordinary people” like you and me. We must remember that God is our provider and The One in whom we must trust.

As I write that I am reminded of Psalm 20:7. “Some trust in chariots, some in horses, but we will trust in the Name of the Lord.” That is where our faith and our hope for this year must lie. Remember that Jesus is the “name above all names”. God has appointed Him and crowned Him as King, higher than any of todays government leaders, or ruling monarchs.

World leaders need our prayers. They have difficult decisions to make, and too many of them are not influenced by our Heavenly Father, but by the father of lies (John 8:44).

We, as God’s children must trust Him, knowing that: Hopes placed in mortals die with them; all the promise of their power comes to nothing (Proverbs 11:7).

Another encouraging “hope” verse in Proverbs is this one. The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath (Proverbs 11:23).

Action

Read psalm 20 today and be encouraged. Pray those words as a blessing for this new year on those you care for.

Pray too for evil world leaders to lose their influence, and to be humbled before it is too late.

Ask Father God to be preparing the next generation of world leaders to take up their places and give God the Glory for His rule on earth.
