Children of God – Day 3

Isaiah 49:15

Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has born? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!

The Thought

God is speaking here to the people He created to be His through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He is telling them that they are not forgotten, even if they feel as though they are.

If you come from a “normal” family, you cannot imagine that a mother would ever forget her baby. But if you are one who was adopted or fostered, or abandoned, then this verse is for you.

If you have ever felt abandoned by God, then this verse is for you.

Many of us need a new understanding of God’s love for us and His desire for us. He was the one who decided each person should be born. He was the one who stopped you being miscarried, aborted, or dying at birth. What’s more, He was the one who protected you from a million dangers as He worked out His plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11). He has so much more for each of us than we have yet understood, and is longing for us to move into the fullness of being His children.

Action

Praise Him for the plans He has for you that have not yet been revealed. Praise God that He loves you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). Also praise Him that He has brought you through many trials and tribulations and made you into who you are today.

Read Jeremiah 29:11-13 and pray for the fulfillment of His plans for you.

Pray for those you know who have been adopted, fostered or abandoned, for the love of God to be real to each one.

Pray for adoption organizations in your area, for them to be inspired by God, and for adoptive parents to be matched with the children the Lord would want them to have.
