7 Seals – Day 24
Revelation 6:15-17
Then the kings of the earth, the important people, the generals, the rich, the powerful, and all the slaves and free people hid themselves in caves and among the rocks in the mountains. They said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the anger of the lamb, because the frightening day of their anger has come, and who is able to endure it?”
The Thought
The frightening day of their anger has come, and who is able to endure it? Isn’t it amazing that God has already warned us about everything that is coming? John’s question is important to us today “Who can withstand the day of the Lord”?
Let’s stay with these verses for one more day, because there is much to reflect on here. This day of disaster will be when those who have opposed the Lord and refused to follow Jesus will finally recognise that they have lost their battle.
It is a day prophesied in Hosea as mentioned yesterday, but also in Psalm 110 where we read in verse 5:
He will crush kings on the day of his anger. He will pass judgment on the nations and fill them with dead bodies. Throughout the earth he will crush their heads.
Isn’t it amazing that God has already warned us about everything that is coming? In the first chapter of Paul’s letter to the Romans, we are reminded that God has constantly warned us of what is right and wrong and what is to come, “As a result, people have no excuse.”
Do you think these “natural disasters” will really happen? Or is all this just symbolic of something which may happen on a much smaller scale. As many countries of the world are preparing for nuclear war do you think that could be “the end” physically for us all, or are these things genuinely supernatural and out of this world?
John’s question is important to us today “Who can withstand the day of the Lord”?
Action
Reflect on that question as you go through your day today, and pray that you will be a good witness for Him.
Read Psalm 110 and Romans 1 and rejoice that God has warned His people of what is coming. Pray for those who have decided not to pay attention to His words, and for those who have never read them.
