7 Seals – Day 23

Revelation 6:15-17

Then the kings of the earth, the important people, the generals, the rich, the powerful, and all the slaves and free people hid themselves in caves and among the rocks in the mountains. They said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the anger of the lamb, because the frightening day of their anger has come, and who is able to endure it?”

The Thought

The 6th seal has, (at least for me personally) more visual effect than all the others. It really makes us feel that the end of the world is happening. The beginning of this verse is interesting. Why does John not just tell us simply that “everyone” hid in caves?

I think it is because part of the message God is trying to get across to us through this, is that there is no difference in people’s status during times of calamity. I am reminded at this time of covid 19 that serious diseases are no respecter of persons, they attack rich and poor, famous and infamous! Major disasters are the same.

At the end of the age the only criteria that will matter is whether we are believers in Jesus, the Only Son of the Living God, or not!

Hosea 10:8 speaks of this day …

The high places of wickedness will be destroyed … Then they will say to the mountains, “Cover us!” and to the hills, “Fall on us!”
New International Version

At the end of time there will be no point in calling to rocks, or mountains where idols have been worshiped. The demons hiding there will be ineffective under the Lord’s wrath. They too will be quivering in fear.

Action

Pray today for yourself and all those you care for that you will be those who stand on that day.

Think of the “famous” people you admire, actors, film stars, politicians, royalty, and pray for them today.

What about more local celebrities? Politicians in your area, property owners etc.

Think too about the less privileged, the people who do the menial tasks. Praise God for them and pray for their redemption.
