7 Seals – Day 6
Revelation 5:6
I saw a lamb standing in the center of the throne with the four living creatures and the leaders. The lamb looked like he had been slaughtered. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent all over the world.
The Thought
I saw a lamb, he had seven horns and seven eyes. The 7 eyes means that everything can be seen. The 7 horns of this lamb who has overcome death represent total power. Jesus has overcome every enemy, sees everything, and has total power! What a mighty God we serve!
The Lamb, (Jesus) is standing in the Centre of the throne! This is definitely bigger than any throne I have ever seen. But just as His Father at the beginning of the vision, Jesus, in the form of the Lamb, occupies the centre space.
Here in this vision, John is not so much concerned with the throne, as with who was in the middle of it. And what a strange lamb was there!!
Some of the things John describes in this passage seem grotesque in our limited earthly imagination! However, we are beginning to understand that 7 eyes mean that everything can be seen, perfect sight. And 7 spirits, mean that the Holy Spirit as we know Him is ever present and misses nothing. But what about the 7 horns?
The first mention of a horn in the Bible is in Genesis 22:13 where we find a ram caught by its horn and ready to take the place of Isaac, Abraham’s only son, in the sacrifice. Way back at the beginning we have that symbolism for Jesus, the lamb who saves us from death!
Rams fight each other with their horns, and there are visions and prophecies in the Old Testament which describe nations and their power (eg. Daniel 8:1-27). We can believe that the 7 horns of this lamb who has overcome death represent total power.
Action
Spend a few moments today thinking about what it means for you that Jesus has overcome every enemy, sees everything, and has total power! Thank Him for that amazing truth.
What a mighty God we serve! Maybe it is time to sing a praise song or two.
