Angels – Day 23
The king of Aram was enraged with Elisha because of his prophetic gift and decided to seek him out. His army went by night and surrounded the place where Elisha was staying. When the servant looked out the following morning he was shocked, afraid at being surrounded by the enemy.
2 Kings 6:16-17
“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
The Thought
The king of Aram was enraged with Elisha because of his prophetic gift (verse 12) and decided to seek him out. His army went by night and surrounded the place where Elisha was staying. When Elisha’s servant looked out the following morning he was shocked and afraid at being surrounded by the enemy.
But Elisha had no fears, he could see in the Spirit much more than his servant. So he asked God to open the servant’s eyes (verse 17).
What the servant saw was enough to convince him that all would be well. They were surrounded by chariots of fire with angelic forces on horseback ready to fight.
I sometimes wish I could see in The Spirit like Elisha could, but then wonder if I would like that gift permanently! Sometimes it is less frightening to live in ignorance!
The interesting thing is that, even though the angelic forces were there, they weren’t necessary. Because Elisha’s prayer resulted in the enemy army being blinded and led far away.
Action
Praise God today that He so often protects His children from disasters. Thank Him for the times you have had angelic protection and not known about it.
Thank God for the angelic forces ready to do His will and to ensure that every one of the prophecies still to be fulfilled before the end of time will be accomplished.
Pray for those you know who need angelic protection in these days. Those who work in disaster areas, war zones and among the poor in the cities of the world.
