Gideon – 19
You have too many men with you for me to hand Midian over to you. Israel might brag and say, ‘We saved ourselves.’ God will share His glory with no one. It was God’s call, God’s battle and it would be God’s victory.

Having convinced Gideon that he was called to lead the army into battle and that he would succeed, God then began to cut down the size of the army.
We can imagine that Gideon was encouraged by the number of men who had rallied to his call. And even though he hadn’t had any training as a leader he was carried along by the support of others. But that was not God’s plan!
God will share His glory with no one. He didn’t want Gideon to continue in his own plans and his own strength. It was God’s call, God’s battle. And it would be God’s victory.
Too many of our national and international leaders try to impose their own agendas. They forget that God has ultimate control of world history. The fall of so many leaders bears witness to the fact that “Pride precedes a disaster” (Proverbs 16:18).
We must remember to stay humble following the example of our humble King. God promised Gideon that He would deliver Israel and He was just making sure that everyone knew it.
Pray for humility. Ask the Lord to reveal to you if you have lacked humility and tried to steal His glory. If you are in any position fo leadership no matter how small, pray for Jesus to help you and guide you every step of the way.
Pray for leaders in the church and in the world, that they would honour the Lord who has brought them to those positions.
Praise Him for all the gifts He has given you, and give Him the Glory for all that you have achieved in your life so far.
