Who is God – Day 25
One of the most known things about Jesus, when He predicted His death, is a verse encouraging us to eat of His body at the last supper. Jesus took bread, and gave thanks. He broke it, and gave it to His disciples saying Take and eat, this is My body.
John 6:35
Jesus declared, “I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.”
The Thought
Almost every verse in this chapter is worthy of an individual study! The chapter opens with the miraculous feeding of the five thousand on the mountain side. This is followed by Jesus walking on the water, and His disciples being filled with fear, and then the crowd finding Him again on the other side of the lake. Only Jesus can give us the spiritual food which will heal, bless and sustain us through all the troubles of this earthly life.
Later in this same chapter, we hear Jesus declare again: I am the bread of life (v48). Even further on we read I am the living bread that came down from Heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world (v51).
One of the most known things about Jesus, when He predicted His death, is another verse encouraging us to eat of His body at the last supper with His disciples. While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when He had given thanks. He broke it, and gave it to His disciples saying “Take and eat, this is My body” (Matthew 26:26).
Action
Jesus really is food for our souls. Many can witness to receiving a healing through taking communion whether in a church service or at home alone or with family.
Think today about some of the times you have taken the bread or wafer at a communion table or in a gathering with Christian friends. How have you felt? Has anyone received a healing at that moment?
Read John 6 today and reflect on the spiritual food Jesus gives you personally.
