Who is God – Day 24

Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

The Thought

The famous “Faith chapter” tells us that God is the rewarder. He is the one who rewards us or reprimands us according to the way we live!

We might not actually see all those reactions of the Lord while we live on the earth, but our children and grandchildren will. Our lives and what we do have a huge effect on the generations that follow us, as well as in our own personal present situations. The Biblical history of the Jewish nation shows us that our lives can affect our children and our children’s children.

Even in the commandments given to Moses which we looked at last month, we have the promise that The Lord is one who shows love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments (Exodus 20:6).

Many of the areas where we live have things that remind us of the blessings we have from earlier generations. There are libraries or museums built and paid for by local people who wanted to leave a heritage to bless future generations. Spiritual blessings work in a similar way. Many of us are aware that we have blessings today because of the faith of some of our ancestors or godparents in the past.

Action

Read Hebrews 11 and recognise that obedience is not always easy! Some of those people really suffered for their faith in Almighty God, but they have got their rewards in Heaven.

Think today about your life in God’s eyes. Have you done anything for which He will reward you or your children?

Pray that you daily life will be a blessing to many.
