The Weather – Day 30

Matthew 16:2-3

Jesus replied, “When evening comes, you say “It will be fair weather, for the sky is red”, and in the morning, “Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.” You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.”

The Thought

In this verse Jesus was chastising the Pharisees and Sadducees who were once more trying to test Him. They were constantly trying to trip Jesus up and get Him to say something that would prove he was a false prophet, and certainly not The Messiah that many were believing Him to be.

In this case those religious leaders were asking for a sign from Heaven. Jesus refused to give them any sign. In fact He refused to play their game every time they challenged Him. He knew their hearts.

He knows yours and mine too!

This is a good verse to end this study with, because it leaves us with the question:- Do we understand the signs of the times? Whether they are signs in the Heavens, or signs on the earth. There are many that suggest we are nearer the end of the earth as we know it, than many would like to think. Others are sure there is much to happen in the church on earth before that day.

Action

If you were convinced that the world as we know it would end soon with Jesus’ return, would you live differently?

There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people – everyone whose name is found written in the book – will be delivered. – Daniel 12:1

Read also 2 Timothy 3:1-5 and pray for the Lord to prepare you for whatever lies ahead.
