The Weather – Day 8

Revelation 7:16

Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat.

The Thought

As a complete contrast to yesterday when we read of the sun beating down on the army of Israel and their enemies for over 24 hours, today we have a promise that the sun will not do that. This promise is given to those who have already made it to Heaven.

In one of my Bibles this part of the chapter is headlined “The Great Multitude in White robes”. What it tells us is that in this crowd there are people from all nationalities, people-groups and languages. God is determined, before He closes down the world as we know it, to have EVERY people-group hear about a God who loves them.

That has always been His plan. And He won’t come back for the last generation until everyone has heard. We have a responsibility there.

According to where you live in the world, the weather for you is changing at this time. For me in Europe longer and warmer days are a blessing. The gardens are beginning to have assorted colours as spring flowers are in full bloom and summer things are full of promise. For those in the southern hemisphere, some will be saddened at the shorter days. But maybe they will be happy too because there are cooler temperatures. Let us rejoice together at God’s great design.

Action

Read Revelation 7 to find who these people are before the throne, and why they are receiving the privilege of that position.

Think today about the amazing design of our creator God who gives us such weather variations and changing seasons.

Make time too to read Psalm 104 and rejoice with the psalmist at changing weather patterns and changing seasons. Praise our creator God.
