The Weather – Day 28

Hebrews 6:7

For the land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God.

The Thought

Another farming picture from today’s verse. But let’s use a little imagination and apply it to our own lives. We as people can receive the blessings of God in the same way that dry land soaks up the rain. This verse is suggesting that we should “drink in the rain” as if we were dying of thirst! That is the way to receiving the blessing of God.

Don’t we all want to have more and more blessings from our Heavenly Father? I am convinced that He has so much more for us than any of us have yet received. If we are thirsty enough, we will receive more blessings from Heaven.

The blessing the land receives is the production of a good healthy crop, which is what all farmers would pray for.

The blessings we receive are more sense of The Lord’s presence in our lives, more answered prayers, and a closeness that was unimaginable until we began to spend more time with Him.

The crop in this verse is a useful one, and we will receive useful gifts too; the inspiration of the Spirit when praying for others, or when speaking to others hoping to bring them to Jesus. We will have more angels to accompany us through our days, and we will be protected from the evil around us.

Action

Think today about this farming picture. Imagine a fast moving cartoon showing a seed planted then germinating, growing tall and eventually producing the food for which it is planted! A happy healthy plant.

Spend a little extra time today drinking in the Holy Spirit. Allow Him to give you direction in what you pray for and what you do throughout today.
