The Life of Joseph – Day 19
Genesis 43:24-26
The steward took the men into Joseph’s house, gave them water to wash their feet and provided fodder for their donkeys. They prepared their gifts for Joseph’s arrival at noon.
When Joseph came home, they presented to him the gifts they had brought into the house, and they bowed down before him to the ground.
The Thought
How many times must Jospeh have thought again about his dreams of years before? How many times as a slave must he have said to himself that he was wrong, or that it must have been his imagination?
In 1983 God spoke to my husband about the purpose of our move to France. It was the most difficult thing we have ever done, but 40 years on, we have no regrets, but for 30 of those years we didn’t see the true fulfilment of what God had said to him that day. We learned a lot in the waiting time.
How good God is to encourage us, so that when things seem to be going wrong we can look back and say “But God said…”! Often in those moments when nothing seems to be going right, we say that we mustn’t have heard correctly, or have obviously misunderstood what He meant!
Joseph must have often remembered his dreams and wondered.
One of the verses which encourages us when we have doubts is Isaiah 55:11. So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Action
Praise God today for any time in the past when The Lord spoke clearly to you personally.
Remember how long Jospeh had to wait for the fulfilment of his dreams, and pray again for your own unfulfilled dreams or prayers.
Ask God to give you a verse of encouragement today.

This post, quoting Genesis 43:24-26, looks at any doubts that Joseph might have had over the years. It looks at the encouragement that God gives us to hold fast to what God has said to us.
