The Life of Joseph – Day 12

Genesis 41:25

Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same. God has revealed to Pharaoh what He is about to do…”

The Thought

Here, we see once more the humility of Joseph! He does not say “God has revealed to me what He is about to do”, but he wisely keeps the focus on Pharaoh. His life experiences have served him well, and his humility and wisdom result in him being promoted to the highest position in the land! A very long way from being sold as a slave and given up for dead by his brothers!

God had a plan for Joseph’s life, as he has for yours and mine! He told Jeremiah years later that He had a plan for the people of Israel: “I know the plans I have for you” says The Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

At the time of writing Israel is constantly in our secular news media, but God has not finished with them yet, and His word is still true!

Joseph went on to give Pharaoh the dream interpretation, that there would be seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine (verses 27-31).

Inspired by God, Joseph then suggested that Pharaoh find the right person to undertake the preparations for the famine. He got the job!

Action

Pray for Israel today, that their enemies would be defeated and recognise that they are a blessed nation for whom God still has plans, just as he told Jeremiah.

Praise God that He still puts the right people in the right jobs to prepare for the future that He has already planned.

God still has plans for you and me too. Praise Him that His plans never fail, and His word will be fulfilled.
