As I write this study on the 7 Seals of Revelation towards the end of 2020, many are believing that we are living in or near the end of time as we have so far known it. These are certainly very strange times with much discussion going on via internet as to what is truth, what is of God and whether or not the devil has taken over the world.

So I decided to read again the last book of the Bible, the Revelation of John which tells us a little about these things.

Background

Much of what we read in Revelation is based on verses from the Old Testament. I haven’t counted them, but one of my study Bibles tells me that there are 404 verses in this last book of the Bible, and 278 of them allude to the Old Testament. It’s a confirmation that God’s word goes on forever, and He doesn’t change His mind or His ideas. Jesus tells us that His words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31 & Luke 21:33)

The author of this apocalyptic book, John, is generally accepted as John the disciple of Jesus. He wrote the 4th gospel and refers to himself, as “the one Jesus loved” , or “the beloved disciple” (John 21:20). I do not believe Jesus loved any of His disciples more than He loves any of us today, but I can believe that John recognised, maybe more than the others did, how much his Master loved him, at that time while Jesus was still walking the earth in bodily form.

Much of Revelation seems difficult to understand, and there is certainly far too much for a month’s study, so I have just taken a part of it. The seven seals and what they reveal.

As always, I am not looking at the future so much as what each verse can say to me and you in our daily lives. Let’s see the relevance today of these Holy Spirit inspired writings.

As always…

As always, I appreciate any comments or thoughts about my studies. Feel free to comment below with your own thoughts about each verse and how you will be acting on each thought. Many comments I receive are personal and therefore are not posted publicly to this site, but I appreciate them all.
