7 Seals – Day 1

Revelation 4:1

After these things I saw a door standing open in heaven. I heard the first voice like a trumpet speaking to me. It said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.”

The Thought

The introduction to John to visit Heaven is something that makes many Christians jealous. Sometimes we would really like to know what is going to happen in the near future, while some of us think it’s better to not know and to live for today.

In Matthew 6:34 we read “So don’t ever worry about tomorrow. After all, tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Which camp are you in? Concerned about tomorrow or trusting God completely to take care of whatever comes your way today?

We must remember that John experienced and wrote about these revelations while he was exiled on the island of Patmos. He had plenty of time to pray, think and be “under the Spirit’s power” (Revelation 4:2). He also did not know how long he had left to live. But neither do you or I! None of us really knows what will happen to us, even later today, but we all make decisions as though everything will go according to our plans!

Action

Pray today for the fulfillment of every one of God’s plans for your life.

Reflect on what it means to live just for today and not worry about tomorrow. Would that change anything for you?

If you heard the voice of God calling you to have a look at the future as He did for John, would you be scared, excited, or a bit of both?

Please note that we are not speaking about fortune telling here. The devil has tried to invade the world with counterfeit signs and predictions, and we must be sure we are hearing only from Jesus. Use His name as you pray and the devil will flee.
