Surprises – Day 5

Genesis 2:21-22

So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought her to the man.

The Thought

This must be have been one of the biggest surprises in the history of mankind!! Scientists have achieved much during the history of the world, but never have they managed to create a living person from the rib of another. God is still superior to anything man could imagine or attempt to create.

It is hard for us to imagine the surprise God had prepared for Adam waking from that deep sleep and seeing Eve for the first time. We have no idea how long Adam lived alone with God and the animals before the creation of Eve, we can imagine that he had seen all the created beings, and watched many of them live in pairs and consequently in families. But he had such a close relationship with God that I believe loneliness was not a problem. If it had been, he would have asked God for a partner. It didn’t happen that way. It was God who thought Adam needed a friend! He still sees our needs and provides for us today. Hallelujah! “He created them male and female, and blessed them” (Genesis 5:2).

Action

Read Genesis 1-3 and praise God today for His amazing creation. For His idea of male and female partnerships.

Thank Him for the surprises that He has given you in the past and also for those He is preparing for your future.

Pray for those you know who are not in happy relationships.

Pray for anyone you know in the next generation who will be needing partners before too long.
