Separation – Day 6

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.

The Thought

This verse is the New Testament version of the one we looked at in the Old Testament yesterday. Isn’t our God wonderful in His consistency? Since the beginning of creation he has been planning on having a Holy Nation. He has never changed His mind.

The New Testament version of the “set apart” one differs from the Jewish nation. The original was and still is, more or less, limited to those who were born of the Sons of Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel. (Genesis 32:28).

The verse today refers to God’s Christian family. This is forever growing as people across the world accept Jesus as Saviour. In doing so, they are accepted into the family of God. This is a family that Father God is calling as a group of people set apart for Him, so that others will see and believe. So that we may all live in the image and fulfilment of that first separation between darkness and light!

The more you read His Word, the more you see the overall plan being worked out. Are we beginning to understand the purposes of God for our generation?

Action

Praise Him that His purposes for mankind have never changed. Praise Him for the consistency of His Word.

Pray for yourself and for your church to have a new revelation of what it means to be part of a holy nation, a royal priesthood.

Take time today to read the verse for today slowly. Challenge yourself to represent “a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
