Separation – Day 18

Exodus 26:33

Hang the curtain from the clasps and place the ark of the Testimony behind the curtain. The curtain will separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.

The Thought

In religious systems, and in secret societies, there are always “no go” areas. There are separate places for different functions. There are places the general public or people without certain qualifications or length of service cannot enter. So it was in the building of the temple. Only the high priests who had studied for many years and gone through the purification ritual could pass through into The Most Holy Place. This was an awesome place where the presence of God was often manifested.

Young priests from the tribe of Levi who became priests because of their bloodline had many years of training before they could go anywhere near The Most Holy Place, on the other side of the curtain, into the tangible presence of the Living God.

Praise God that at the very moment of Jesus’ death on the cross, this curtain of separation was torn from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51)! Who tore it? The fact that it happened from the top downwards means that it was an act of our Sovereign Lord. Hallelujah!

Jesus’ death broke forever, the wall barrier that stood between us and our Heavenly Father, making it possible for us all to have access to the presence of The Most High God. Hallelujah!

Action

Praise the God who designed the temple in the Old Testament for His action in tearing the curtain. Praise Jesus for all that His death and resurrection gained for you.

Pray for a fresh realisation of what it means to be a Christian. Recognise afresh today that there is NO SEPARATION between each believer and God.

Pray for those who act as though that enormous curtain was still in place.
