Haggai – Day 11

Haggai 1:13

Then Haggai, The Lord’s messenger, gave this message of The Lord to the people: I am with you, declares the Lord.

The Thought

That must be one of the shortest messages any prophet has ever given, and yet it is probably the truest, most important and most frequently given. It is something we all know in our hearts, and we remember that Jesus told those who followed Him: I am with you always, even to the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). That was when it seemed as though Jesus was playing “hide and seek” with His followers. Suddenly He would appear and stay with them for a while, then He would disappear again just as suddenly. All the time, they were thinking that He had come back forever and would never leave them again.

Jesus knew that His presence could be with each one of His followers in a spiritual sense forever. Sometimes it would be more real than others. But they were to stay awake and to look for Him everywhere, knowing that He was there, even if they couldn’t see Him.

This was the message Haggai was giving to the Israelites on that day hundreds of years before Jesus. It is amazing how the Old and New Testaments have similar messages. Some things never change!

Action

Praise God today, that He is an unchanging being. Not only does His personality never change, but His likes and dislikes don’t change either!

The other beings that don’t change are angels and demons! They continue to war over God’s people.

Demonic voices were continually telling the Israelites that they could not accomplish what God was asking, while they angels were there whispering to them that they could do it, because God was with them.

It is the same for you and me today. Hallelujah.
