Grace – Day 2

Many non-believers across the world know the story of Noah and how he built a boat to save his family and the animal kingdom. The ark Noah built was the size of a large football / soccer pitch. What a challenge that must have been without any modern equipment.

Genesis 6:8

Noah found favour / grace in the eyes of the Lord.

The Thought

Many non-believers across the world know the story of Noah and how he built a boat to save his family and the animal kingdom. What an amazing project! The ark Noah built was the size of a large football / soccer pitch. What a challenge that must have been without any of today’s modern equipment.

The preceding verses in Genesis 6 tell us that God was disappointed with mankind and all that was happening on the earth. Imagine God looking down from His perspective on all of His creation, and feeling so disappointed that He decided to destroy it all and start again! Like an artist might get to the end of a painting or sculpture, take a step back to look at it and know that it isn’t right, so he decides to scrap it and begin again. That’s what God wanted to do.

As God’s eyes scanned the earth and saw the despicable activities of human., He saw Noah, and His heart melted. The next verse tell us that “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.”

What a great testimony that is. Because of Noah’s righteousness, his whole family were saved!

Action

Think about the world today and your personal walk with God. What do you think the Lord’s reaction is when He looks on the earth? Would He pick you out as one deserving His favour?

Don’t panic if the answer is no, the Bible tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). But the next verse tells us that we are all justified by His grace through the redemption which came by Jesus Christ.

Praise God for His redemption plan for Noah and for you, and share that good news with somebody today.
