The Fig Tree – Day 25
After a few days of challenging verses, we read some encouragement. The Song of Songs is often described as an allegory for the second coming of Christ. The bride, the church, is being constantly drawn towards her lover, Jesus. Spring is in the air and the wedding date is near.
Song of Songs 2:13
The green figs ripen. The grapevines bloom and give off a fragrance. Get up, my true love, my beautiful one, and come with me.
After a couple of days of challenging verses, we read one full of encouragement. The Song of Songs is often described as an allegory for the second coming of Christ. The bride, representing the church, is being constantly drawn towards her lover, Jesus. Spring is in the air and the wedding date is near.
The previous verse speaks of flowers springing up and doves cooing and it helps to paint for us a picture of early spring, an atmosphere of love. The verse quoted above is a direct invitation to spend time with Jesus. How do you respond when He calls?
When there is too much to do in the house, I often go out for a walk with Jesus to focus my mind on something other than housework or cooking. He is always ready to accompany me, and I always find it easier to do what is necessary when I return.
Many believe that the times are short and the present day church needs to be preparing for Jesus’ return. Are you ready to meet your king? Do you see Him first as one who loves you?
But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth? (Luke 18:8) Jesus is still waiting for us to fulfill the task He gave us, to live as though we are loved by Him, to be good witnesses for Him. Let’s do it together.
Pray for the an increase in your desire to see Jesus reign on the earth.
Pray for an understanding of the signs of the times, and a willingness to change what needs to change in your personal lifestyle and in your church group.
