Doors & Gates – Day 3

Revelation 4:1

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”

The Thought

“After this” at the beginning of this verse refers to the letters John had written to the seven churches. One of which we looked at briefly yesterday, when we saw that the Philadelphian church had an open door before them. Today we see John being invited to enter through a similar door. We got the impression that the Philadelphian church would go through the door to find rewards and recompense for their faithfulness. Meanwhile John gets a look into the future. A scary future!

John must have been totally amazed at much of what he saw in the visions that followed. Amazed and fearful for those he knew who were not yet believers.

Do you think he understood what he was seeing? Many people today have visions and dreams and don’t understand at all until much later, or until they have spent much time in prayer seeking the revelations and the relevance.

Action

If God said to you today “Come up here”, what would your reaction be? Would you be looking for a staircase or elevator? Or would you know immediately that this was a spiritual ascent and all you had to do was to be willing in your heart to receive what God wanted to give you?

Pray for the spiritual gift of prophecy and visions to be more evident in your christian group.

Pray for understanding of the times that we are living in.

Thank God that He is in total control. Ask for His solution to overcome all that is happening around the world because of the covid virus.

Pray for the church to have open eyes to see the good things of God through the open doors into the Heavenly realm.
