Children of God – Day 31
Do you really believe if you do not love another believer you lose your standing as a child of God? There are no conditions here. The love of God for everyone is unconditional, and so should ours be. We are not supposed to love only those who think like us.
1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
The Thought
How sad that many of us put the ways of childhood behind us and grow up to be “sensible adults!” We forget how to love and have fun!
This verse follows Paul’s definition of “Love” and his suggestion that we only partly understand anything of God. Like children we are learning, and it is time for us to grow up. Of course we will never totally understand God’s love until we meet Him face to face, and when that happens we will finally understand how much we missed!
But in our study this month we have been looking at being a “child of God”, and the subject of Love has to come into our considerations. If we are learning from Father God, we must be learning to love as He does: Unconditionally.
It is sad that the world has cheapened the meaning of the word love. It is good to re-read the Biblical definition of it earlier in this chapter.
God’s love is purer than anything we can imagine, and to copy that should be our aim.
Do you really believe that if you do not love another believer you lose your standing as a child of God? There are no conditions here, God’s love for everyone is unconditional, and so should ours be. We are not supposed to love only those who think like us, or live in a way we approve of; we are to love as our Heavenly Father loves.
Action
Read Corinthians 13:1-13 today and pray for help to love as The Lord does.
Pray for the Church to show this love for other Christians, and for the world.
Praise God again for His unconditional perfect love.
