Children of God – Day 30

Romans 8:19

The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.

The Thought

If we consider that from the days of the early church, believers have been called children of God, this verse seems very strange. Why should creation still be waiting? Maybe it is because many church-goers have not lived up to that reputation!

In earthly terms people can often guess our parenthood because of the shape of the nose or the chin. Sometimes it is mannerisms that remind others of our parents.

I long for the day when we will be recognized by our attitudes, our belief and our actions as “children of Father God.”

As we approach the end times when all Christians will eventually understand their calling, and finally live up to the standards set by Jesus, then the days will come when those outside and inside the church will refer to believers as “children of God” because of the way they demonstrate the power of God in their lives, neighborhoods and work places. Others will seek us out for prayer and help in time of need.

I believe in the very near future we will see whole churches of people where every member is healing the sick, casting out demons, etc. (Mark 16:17-18).

The normal standard for the Christian life should be doing what Jesus did, saying what Jesus said, and seeing the results that Jesus saw. Creation is waiting for us! Let’s do it together.

Action

Pray for more of Jesus to be evident in your own life and that of your church. Pray for the reality that you are a son of God to be obvious to all.

Praise God that He is raising us up as sons and daughters who carry His mandate, who have His character, and do what He does.
