Children of God – Day 25
God is still saying to us, His children here on the earth, to let the troubles of today be sufficient for today. Each day does have its own problems, but not one of them is too hard for God to handle, if only we will hand them over to Him.
Revelation 21:7
Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be My children.
The Thought
At first glance these words seem to discard some of the verses we have been reading throughout this month. But the Bible doesn’t ever contradict itself, so we have to think a bit deeper.
In this chapter which comes from the end of our Bibles, God is talking about the New heaven and the New earth (Revelation 21:1) which is ours to inherit if we are victorious in our earthly battles, and if we stay faithful to our Father God until the end of time, which many people think is approaching very fast. Others say “No, there is still much work to be done on the earth”. Maybe that argument will be another study sometime!
In the meantime, God is still saying to us, His children here on the earth, to let the troubles of today be sufficient for today. Jesus told his listeners Do not worry about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:34). Most of us need to remember that verse!
Each day does have its own problems, but not one of them is too hard for God to handle, if only we will hand them over to Him. Just as many of us asked our earthly fathers for help with homework when we were at school.
The verse which follows today’s verse gives the opposite choice, telling us what those who didn’t follow God’s law and love Him as much as they could will inherit. It does not make comfortable reading!
Action
Read Revelation 21 today and give thanks to Father God for adopting you as His child.
Pray for all those you know who don’t have this relationship with Him.
Pray silently for a revelation of Jesus for those you see in the office, on the public transport, out of your window, wherever you go.
