Children of God – Day 13

Philippians 2:14-15

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.

The Thought

Yesterday’s verse told us to live as children of light. Today’s tells us to shine like stars! Praise God for His message that never changes. Whether we shine like stars, lighting the darkness, or lamps for lighting the road ahead, the message is the same. We must shine for Jesus!

Note that in reading today’s verse we are not told to criticize the crooked generation but to shine the Light of God into it. Sadly Christians have not always fulfilled this command.

Jesus told those who were present at His ascension that they would be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). We do that by being blameless and pure, with a quality that does not come from our own self righteous, but by living as Jesus did, and being true sons or daughters of Father God. In that way we will be shining His light into the darkness of the situations around us, and acting like Jesus who did only what He saw the Father doing (John 5:19).

Action

Read Philippians chapter 2 today and feel Paul’s heart as he pleads with the church in Philippi to become more like Jesus and live the way He did.

Pray and ask God to help you shine like a star in the darkness of the world today.

Pray that others will notice that you are different, not because of your gender, or size, or race, or age, but because you are becoming like your Heavenly Father.

Praise your Heavenly Father that He is making you more like Him. Praise Him that more of the church is reflecting His glory day by day.
