Angels – Day 6

Hebrews 13:2

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

The Thought

When we lived in the Paris area this verse became important to us. Our home was open to many who needed a bed for a night or longer, (sometimes several years!). We housed people from all walks of life, all ages, and all levels of society, truly from a princess to a pauper from rich business men to refugees. We never knew if they were angels in disguise, but our suspicion is that some of them could well have been.

What we do know is that we were a blessing to them, but we were also very blessed by them. We learned much along the way about other cultures as well as other types of Christianity. And we believe the Lord sent them to teach us many things. To make us aware that life in other parts of the world is not at all like the one we had lived in the small north of England town where we had grown up, or even in the fast moving life of Paris.

God’s idea for His world was never that we would all be the same, or live by the same standards and have similar habits. He loves variety. In His earthly creation we can see so much variety, and that is just a tiny glimpse of what we will become aware of when we get to Heaven.

Action

Ask yourself today if you are aware of people from different cultures.

Pray for those you know who invite others into their homes.

Keep a look out for the angels you might meet during your day today!

Think about the variety God has created for your enjoyment, in nature, in people, in space… the list is endless.
