Angels – Day 25
Jesus was the only Person who really knew what was going to happen. He had submitted to the will of His Father and was now alone. No angels to rescue Him and meet His needs as had happened at the end of His wilderness experience. He was very much alone.
Matthew 26:52-53
“Put your sword back in its place” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on My Father and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?”
The Thought
In the middle of this long chapter of the gospel, we see Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. He had prayed for God’s plans to be changed, but finally submitting to His Father’s will. Then came His arrest, but the ever impulsive Peter cut off the ear of one of the High Priest’s servants. This story is mentioned in all four gospels, but only John tells us that Simon Peter is the guilty one (John 18:10).
Jesus was the only Person who really knew what was going to happen. He had submitted to the will of His Father and was now alone. No angels to rescue Him and meet His needs as had happened at the end of His wilderness experience. He was very much alone.
How Father God and the angels must have been holding their breath and hoping He would get through this worst of all the experiences He had committed to, when He agreed to come to earth.
Action
How confident are you that Your heavenly Father will put angels at your disposal?
The few people I know who see angels regularly are one hundred percent confident that the angels will protect them no matter what happens.
Do you react in haste, as did Peter? Then pray for God to help you stay calm and see things from another point of view.
Praise God for the strength He gave to Jesus to complete His earthly mission. Pray for any future plans that Father God might have for you, that you will complete them with confidence and remember the hosts of angels that are ready to help when needed.
