Angels – Day 12

Revelation 12:9

The great dragon was hurled down – that ancient serpent called the devil, or satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth and his angels with him.

The Thought

The Bible is not clear about where angels and demons come from. But there are obviously thousands of them around today, the angels spend their time blessing us, protecting us and encouraging us, and the demons spend their time hassling us, distracting us, and trying to stop us fulfilling the plan of God for our lives.

That demons, the fallen angels or the evil spirits, exist is not in question. Jesus cast out many during His ministry on the earth.

In John’s visions, written for us in this last book of the Bible, we read of much angelic activity. In this verse we read of how the angels who chose to follow satan, also called Lucifer, and here “The great dragon”, were all driven out of Heaven.

Other Biblical passages which tell us a little more of this event are found in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28.

It is important that we, as active Christians, learn to pray more for protection for ourselves and our loved ones, as well as for discernment to understand what is the bigger picture in our own countries. We have the power of the Holy Spirit, and the authority given by Jesus at His departure from earth, to change the world.

Action

Using Matthew 16:19 and 18:18 bind the work of the enemy around you today, and loose the blessings of God into the difficult situations you are dealing with.

Pray for protection for all those you love or care for.

Read Isaiah 14 and/or Ezekiel 28 and see how much satan left behind when pride became his downfall! Pray for the Lord to reveal any pride you might be guilty of.

Repent and know His forgiveness in your heart.
