Angels – Day 17

Matthew 25:31-32

When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

The Thought

Can you imagine this sight when Jesus returns to earth with ALL his angels? Many artists have tried to paint it, but I don’t think any of us can really visualise it.

Who do you think are the sheep and the goats in this verse?

Reading on in the chapter gives us the answer, and persuades us that being a Christian is not about attending church, but is about caring for the poor. It is about showing genuine love for others, and basically doing what Jesus did when He walked the earth.

It is about fulfilling the “Great Commission” in the last verse of Matthew 28.

Many of us believers today are longing for this day described above when Jesus returns to earth. But sadly there are still many in the world who have no idea who Jesus is, and what God’s plans for the end of our world as we know it, will be. It is harvest time now and the church must rise and witness to God’s saving grace, telling others of Jesus’ love and sacrifice.

Those who haven’t heard are not necessarily living in far away countries, they are neighbours, they go to the same shops as we do, they attend our schools and work in our offices.

As we look forward with great anticipation to the return of Jesus with ALL the angels, (is there nobody left in Heaven on that day!?!) let us, the church, be doing what He asked us to do.

Action

Ask yourself today if you are one who thinks Jesus is coming soon.

Pray for those in your neighbourhood who may not recognise Him when He comes.

Read on in this chapter and ask God if you should speak to someone today about the Saviour that could be coming very soon.
