30 Thoughts prompted by Bones

Thought 13

Psalm 6:2

Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am faint; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are in agony.

Throughout the psalms the bones are taken as representing the health of the whole body. It is a sign of serious illness or serious worry when David the psalmist talks of his bones. But in every case he ends with confidence that the Lord will move, that He has heard the prayer and will answer.

Are you hurting or weak in your innermost being today? Read some of the psalms and be confident that God knows your situation and will answer. (Verse 9 The Lord has heard my supplication, He will answer.)

Pray in confidence not only for your physical health, but also your spiritual and emotional health. Pray for more healings to be evident in the church.

Praise God that He is Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals.

Thought 14

Psalm 22:14 & 17

I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me.

I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me.

The first verse of this psalm was quoted by Jesus from the cross. It is a depressing prophetic picture of the events of the crucifixion. What an encouragement for us to know that whatever we suffer, Jesus has been there before us, He understands, and He can change the situation because of His great power paid for on the cross.

Do we really understand all that was gained that day on Calvary?

Pray for a new revelation of all that Jesus accomplished when He died for you that day.

Praise God that whatever you are going through, Jesus has walked that way before.

Thought 15

Psalm 32:3-4

When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.

Sometimes our sicknesses can be caused by our own transgressions, How many times did Jesus heal someone by forgiving them of their sins? In this psalm David knows he has done something wrong and is trying to ignore it. Does that sound familiar? Often we try to forget and move on, but the Lord who is always more than ready to forgive, doesn’t forget our sins until we have repented and asked forgiveness. Then He forgets them. (Isaiah 43:25)

Pray for the Lord to reveal to you today any hidden or forgotten sins that could result in poor health. Pray for the health of those who attend your church.

Praise God for His love, forgiveness and healing.
