Remembering – Day 19
Psalm 45 – Wedding Song. When revival hits an area and people are dramatically changed, then each individual who gets swept along with the tide of Holy Spirit becomes a part of the Bride of Christ, and for many that means learning new ways of thinking, praying and using our time.
Psalm 45:10-11
Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father’s house. Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honour him, for he is your lord.
The Thought
In most Bibles, this psalm has the title “Wedding Song”, and we can understand the reason for the bride being told to forget her people and her father’s house, but none of us would like to hear our own daughters being given that advice on their wedding day!
We guess that this bride is moving to a new country, and will have to learn new customs and different ways of doing things. It will not be easy. All of us who are married or who have been married have seen that just becoming a part of a different family can be difficult. Suddenly, the way we have always done things can be challenged! Moving to another country adds many extra challenges!
But if we think of this psalm and its message in a spiritual sense, then we can relate it to Revelation 19:7 which tells us that the bride has made herself ready.
How can we as the church today do that?
When revival hits an area and people are dramatically changed, then each individual who gets swept along with the tide of Holy Spirit becomes a part of the Bride of Christ, and for many that means learning new ways of thinking, praying and using our time. Suddenly people dedicate their days to their divine husband and discover that old habits must go and new ones be learned.
Action
Read Psalm 45 today, and think about the church being the Bride of Christ. Do you find that an impossible or an exciting thought? Pray for a new focus in church congregations, that God’s people on earth would understand the close loving relationship that they can have with Jesus, as He changes His bride from the inside out.
