Mountains – Day 10

Exodus 3:4-6

God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” and Moses said “Here I am.” “Do not come any closer” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Then He said “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

The Thought

It is worth noting that Moses was not afraid of God, but just afraid to look at Him! That is a sign of somebody who doesn’t feel guilt. We have the story in the New Testament of Saul who was blinded when he came face to face with God. He was a very different person to Moses; proud and aggressive against God’s people until God showed him in the vision that blinded him just how guilty and spiritually blind he was. (Acts 9)

If you read this chapter yesterday you will know that God’s message to Moses was that He had seen the suffering of His people, and was sending Moses to rescue them from Egypt!!

We know that Moses was no stranger to Egyptian life. He was adopted from the river by an Egyptian princess, and was consequently brought up in Pharaoh’s palace, but he was also a murderer on the run (Exodus 2:12), and had very little intention of going back to Egypt!

Action

If God spoke to you directly today, (maybe He will) what would your reaction be? Fear? Shame? Unworthiness?

Pray today asking the Lord to show you any spiritual blind spots, like Paul, that you may have. Thank Him for your past experiences, both good and bad that have made you who you are today. Pray that you can use those experiences for The Lord.
