Habakkuk – Day 2

There are many cases going on in the court rooms of the world right now which make many of us wonder if justice will ever prevail. Sometimes we hear of the strangest things being allowed. We hear of innocent people being jailed for saying the wrong things.

Habakkuk 1:4

Therefore the law is paralysed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted.

The Thought

There are many cases going on in the court rooms of the world right now which make many of us wonder if justice will ever prevail. Sometimes we hear of the strangest things being allowed. We hear of wheelings and dealings in the financial world, and billions of dollars being moved between countries and companies. We also hear of innocent people being jailed for saying the “wrong” things.

Is there a righteous government anywhere in the world? Only God can answer that question, but the news media appears to be full of wheelings and dealings that would not stand close inspection.

None of us has the real picture, just like Habakkuk! He complained to the Lord, as I’m sure many of us are doing too. But because He was a prophet, he heard and listened to The Lord’s response. Many of us hear The Lord, but don’t spend enough time really listening or trying to understand what He might be saying.

But in the verse today, we don’t see Habakkuk listening, just complaining!

Action

Think about how you pray for world affairs. Do you complain to God?

Do you listen for a response?

How do you pray when you don’t know what to pray?

We could do worse than use the prayer Jesus taught us, praying for the Lord’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven…! He banished the evil spirits from Heaven and one day He will banish them completely from the earth. Until then we must keep praying…

Our Father in Heaven, may Your name be holy.

Forgive us as we make the decision to forgive others.

Lead us away from temptation, and deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever AMEN
