7 Seals – Day 25

Revelation 7:1

After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth. They were holding back the four winds of the earth to keep them from blowing on the land, the sea, or any tree.

The Thought

Depending on where you live the winds have different effects. And they come with differing strengths, good ones and bad ones! But can you imagine never having any wind at all?

The first mention of wind in the Bible is in Genesis 8:1. God sent a wind to make the water recede so that Noah and family could leave the ark and start their new life. That was a “good” wind which had powerful effect. Can you imagine how long Noah would have taken to wait for the water to evaporate slowly?

What difference would it make to your life if there was no wind for any period of time? The winds are responsible for changes in weather, they make the clouds move, they make the tides effective. The winds shake the trees in autumn, they disperse seeds. But they can also cause much destruction. Storms on both land and sea can result in boats being overturned, planes blown off course, roof tiles removed, trees uprooted, and buildings demolished.

Action

Do you like the wind? When I was a child in the north of England there were lots of fierce cold winter winds that made us want to stay inside, but if we were wearing the right clothes, and well protected, there was something wonderful about going out in a strong wind, feeling its strength, leaning into it, letting it take you where it wanted!

Think today about the wind’s effect on the area where you live. Praise God that He does control the weather, and NOTHING happens on earth that is not known in Heaven.

Praise God that “even the winds and waves obey Him” Luke 8:25.
